Project BetterLife (coming soon)
Living Independently, Together.
Caring for an adult family member with autism is challenging.
You want them to get the most out of life, but life is busy - and they require your assistance in order to be engaged. You feel uneasy each evening, wondering if you’ve helped them have a good day today. (Read: “What Makes Today a Good Day?”)
You also worry about what will happen when you’re not around, or when you’re too old to provide their full support. Ideally they could live somewhere where they could have people dedicated to helping them live a fulfilling life, but you haven’t found a place like that yet. (Read: “The Fiscal Model is Broken.”)
Project BetterLife is different. We want to help more people lead more fulfilling lives - as independently as possible, with facilitation as needed - whatever that looks like for each individual.
Having autism, being nonverbal, or needing additional help to provide value and receive enrichment should not condemn someone to a life sentence of being ignored and sitting alone on a couch somewhere.
