Project Management Page
I’m a Project Manager by profession. I’m also a Dad, husband, homeowner, writer, health-nutrition-fitness enthusiast, competitive tennis player, and have launched and run a couple of businesses along the way.
Collaboration. Communication. Facilitation. Planning and Reflection. Teamwork and Shared Success. Consistency of Effort. Constancy of Purpose. These are the habits that drive success.
When you get the team right and let them work from their strengths while pulling in the same direction, great results usually follow.
I believe very strongly in consistent best-effort throughout the project timeline rather than Superman efforts and fire drills to get across a finish line. Fire drills, late nights, and unrealistic demands lead to burnout, resentment, and turnover; these are things which move a team in the wrong direction. I’ve seen amazing results with veteran teams who were given the chance to mature and synergize.
It also turns out there’s no substitute for experience. As different as tennis and cloud computing and raising boys might seem, it’s amazing how often the principles we learn along the way can be applied to different disciplines.
I think out loud about successes, challenges, and other things that matter to me on my blog.
